The weather was perfect and little to no winds. We met at the car wash and headed toward HV but we all headed up the toward the beach. After the Westlake climb we started to shed clothes. Michael felt strong and suggested we go to the beach down Dekker and up Encinal. This was a nice switch. At the top of Dekker Chris took a nice group pic of us all.
On the way up Encinal I jumped in the lead (knowing Jim and BZ would catch up) Midway they did and BZ gave me a push which gave me a nice kick start to keep up with them for a bit. Then Albert came up behind with a fierce intensity which pulled me all the way to the top at fast pace. (Both Albert and I got PRs up Encinal)
Michael did great for his first time since the surgery. Then we head were heading back and I jumped ahead again because I tend to be “more cautious” down Westlake. Then the peleton lead by Albert passed me toward the bottom and I jumped on the back. We all ended the ride at Stonehaus for coffee (thinking we would get a discount because Jim had his Stonehaus jersey on but nogo)
Lots of action in a short time and a fun ride.
