Jeff’s Weekend Recap

Saturday 7:30 AM Car Wash.
Weather: warm and it was getting hot
Riders; Albert, Bernard, Jeff, Jim, Larry, Michael
I was running late…but had the weekly route from the car wash memorized, and I caught the group near Stonehaus.
We went around the lake; Michael continued towards Hidden Valley.  Everyone else, up Westlake.  The climb was quick, Albert entertained us with some stories.
Regrouped at the top, we headed towards Encinal.  Albert, Bernard, and Jim went down Encinal and up Decker.  Was Decker hot enough for you?
Larry and I made a left at Luchesa, and headed down then up towards Rockstore.  The ride back was uneventful, except for the telephone pole construction throughout Mulholland.  Be careful.
Sunday 8:00 Cheesebro.
Weather: warm and it was getting hot
Riders; Albert, Bernard, Greg, Jeff, Jim, Mark, Michael, Roger & Dave
Awesome ride, but a scorcher.  We went up the middle and forked right towards Baleen, but did not commit.  Instead we went down Gas Pipes, the most pleasurable Gas Pipes direction of the day.
At the bottom, we went right, down Las Virgenes, to Ahmanson, then weaved our way on some fire roads and single tracks towards Little Ireland.  Some of the single tracks were pretty gnarly, but we fared pretty well.  There were beautiful views from the top of the grassy peaks, but it sure was hot and uncomfortable.  Maybe I would have fared better with more than one bottle of water!
We blasted down some single tracks and fire roads, and the only thing separating us from Starbucks was …. Gas Pipes, one of the hottest hardest climbs in recent memory.  Gregg, thanks for egging me on.  We climbed together at 3 mph (without tipping over), and all reunited at Starbucks.
I think everyone was really satisfied with the ride.
Have a good week everyone.
